Make too much money to qualify for a subsidy on the Health Insurance Marketplace?
If you make up to 300% of the FPL (Federal Poverty Level) a year, which can be roughly anywhere from $65,000-$70,000 depending on where you live, you could potentially qualify for a subsidy.
Think of a subsidy as a discount or coupon. Subsidies can be great, especially when the plan you have access to is a good plan.
However, if you do not qualify for a subsidy, you may feel stuck with high premiums with high deductibles and less than perfect coverage. That's where we come in.
Looking for additional supplemental coverage to add onto current coverage?

Can I only change my health insurance plan during Open Enrollment (November 1st-January 15th)?
No. Private health insurance plans have no SEP (Special Enrollment Period) or Open Enrollment so they are available year round. However, plans on the healthcare Marketplace can only be changed during Open Enrollment or a Special Enrollment Period.
A SEP is a time of the year outside Open Enrollment when you are eligible to sign up for a plan on the health insurance Marketplace. Typically SEPs are based on changes in specific life events. For example, losing health coverage, moving, having a baby, getting divorced, or any other change in the household usually qualifies someone for a SEP.
Am I subject to a financial penalty if I am uninsured?
No. The Federal penalty for being uninsured ( aka the "Shared Responsibility Mandate") was ended in 2018. You will not get penalized by the Federal Government for being uninsured.
Absolutely not! If there is a private plan option you like more than your employer insurance, usually it's just as simple as sending a "Certificate of Insurance" to your employer's benefits department.
Of course! Just make sure to mention that to your agent/broker and they can make sure to pick a plan that has your doctor in-network.
How long can my child stay on my insurance?
According to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), your child may stay on your health insurance plan until they turn 26. This may vary by a year or two depending on your state so make sure to check your state's specific requirements.
